Choose Rural Brand Strategy, Visual Identity, and Website

Overview

Choose Rural is Helpful's second brand and website. The goal of the brand was to be THE go-to resource for satellite internet in rural and remote areas. The brand needed to appeal to anyone deciding to live outside of urban areas and also communicate a sophistication that was appropriate for tech.

Phase 1: Brand Identity Strategy

The first step was taking the information from the revenue team that included the basics of the business strategy and then translating that into a complete identity. I formulated a core essence, personality, and visual look that would act as a foundation for all stages going forward.

Phase 2: Logo, Color and Typography Concepting

With the visual look grounded in strategy and expressed through mood-boards, the next step was to present appropriate concepts for the mark, colors and typography. As you'll see from the presentation below each, concept is designed to follow strict guidelines to ensure it encapsulates the strategy that came before it.

Phase 3: Brandscapes

Brandscapes are a simple strategy to show how all the elements of logo, colors and type will work together in a usable format. I did some user testing and compiled the top five choices for brandscapes for our target audience. After these five were chosen, I did another more extensive and comprehensive user test to determine which is the most appropriate option.

Phase 4: Design System Implementation

With a specific visual identity chosen, it was then time to implement it into our adaptable design system. I created any and all assets that would be needed for all the components on the site.
